" THE DRUMMER BOY OF SHILOH"

I read a story called “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” by Ray Bradbury.  It’s about a boy that JUST turned 14 and has been sent off to war. Yes war when you think of war you think of adult out there fighting not children. The main character name is Joby and he’s the drummer boy of the battle of Shiloh. He has no guns no knifes and no type of weapons to defend himself all he has is his drum sticks and his drum. When Joby was found e was sent off to war he was really scared and so many different emotions and thought were going through his head. Just imagine just turning 14 and getting sent off to war and then you find out that you’re a drummer boy. Joby was really down about his position. He thought he played a small roll in the army but little did he know his roll was really important. The general told him that with out him the army wouldn’t be able to go on and with out him the army would have a back bone because he is the back bone of the army and with out a back bone you wouldn’t be able to live you would be died. Just then Joby realized that his part in the army was very important and with out him there is no army. Joby’s emotions had changed from the beginning of the story to the end of it. He started of scared and frightened to brave and just ready to do his part to help out.

 “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” by Ray Bradbury really taught me a lesson. It taught me that in a team there aren’t any little parts you may think your part is little but it’s not because with out that one part if that one part was missing it wouldn’t make up a team. It also taught me with out a back bone you will not be able to live and go on with your life and it’s the same thing with as a team with at a back bone it wouldn’t be able to go on.
