Romeo & Juliet essay

I read Romeo & Juliet with my class. Romeo & Juliet is not a easy book to read but I think once you read it and understand it you like it & you can also learn a lot from it. Shakespeare is trying to teach us in Romeo & Juliet not to be so quick with your choices because it might not be the best it can hurt other people like fighting, falling in love & betraying your family/families.

There is a lot of anger between the two families. There's also a lot of killing in the story & between the two families. "Two households both alike in dignity (in fair verona where we lag our scene) from ancient grudge break to new mutiny" (prologue 1-3). This is say that the families are very much the same the families aren't really different, it's also saying what the family was fighting over turned into something new. It's sad the the montiques son and the capulets daughter had to die for them to realize that the fighting is stupid. "This by his voice should be. Montaque fetch me my rapier boy what dares the slave came hither covered with an antic face to the fleet and scorn at our solemnity? Now by the stock and honor of my skin to strobe him dead I hold not a sin. (Act 1 sc 5 52-58). Tybalt is saying he wants to kill Romeo and saying how he does not like Romeo.

When the two kids from the two different families first set Keyes on each other the instantly "fell in love". But I honestly think they don't know what it means to be in love. I think their to young to be in love & to know what love is because Juliet is the same age as me and I don't know what it means to be in love. "O Romeo, Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo ? Deny thy father and refuse thy name or if thou wilt not be but worn my love and ill no longer be a Capulet." Act 2 sc 2 36-39. Romeo & Juliet are willing to go against their families & friends to be together. "It is too rash too unadvised too sudden" (act 2 sc 2 118). This is said by Juliet she was starting to think that it was a bad idea then she changed her mind about what she said.

In the book Romeo & Juliet both betrayed their families to be with each other because they "loved each other." I think the trust that you have with your parents are most Important than anything in the world & I would have to break it. "Ah, Juliet If the measure of thy jay be heaped like mine and that thy skill be more to blazon it then sweeten with thy breath this neighbor air and let rich music's tongue unfold the imagined happiness that both receive in either Lou this dear encounter. (Act2. Sc6. 24-29). He's saying he's to excited for the marriage & wedding for words.

In conclusion, I thought that you can learn a lot from Romeo & Juliet. After you get by all the hard words it will actually get you thinking and get your mind juices flowing. Shakespeare is trying to teach us in Romeo & Juliet not to be so quick to love someone, betray your family or fight anyone.

WHAT THE WORLD EATS.

I am currently reading a book called What the World Eats by Faith D’Aluisio. It’s about a guy who travels around the world to see what other people in other places eat he follows 1 family around to see how much they spend and what they buy and what they eat.
This week he’s following the Dudos family of Sarajevo that is located in Europe.  The Dudos family is a family of 5, 3 kids and 2 adults. In one week the family spent $167.43 on food. They spent $17.40 on grains and other starchy foods, $17.77 on dairy, $54.22 on meat, fish, and eggs, $28.18 on fruits, vegetables, and nuts, $8.75 on condiments, $21.74 on snacks and desserts, $2.47 on prepared food, and $16.90 on beverages. The people In Sarajevo consume 73 pounds of sugar each year. And 9% of the people there are undernourished.
That’s fairly a lot of food for just one week, this family must make like a whole meal each meal time. The unemployment rate for 2002 was 45.5% that’s a lot especial since the city is so big, looking at the city you would have thought that it would have a lot of jobs and most of the people were employed.

WHAT THE WORLD EATS

I am currently reading a book called What the World Eats by Faith D’Aluisio. It’s about a guy who travels around the world to see what other people in other places eat he follows 1 family around to see how much they spend and what they buy and what they eat.
This week he is following the namgays of the shingkhey village in Bhutan. This family has 8 kids and 5 adults.  They spend $0.25 on grains and other starchy foods, $0.08 on meat, fish & eggs, $1.46 on fruits, vegetables, & nuts, $1.27 on condiments, $0.76 on beverages, $1.21 on miscellaneous but some of their foods are homegrown. In one week they spent $5.03, that’s fairly cheap. The price of homegrown foods in a market is $29.09, that’s still fairly cheap. In Bhutan the shingkhey village they have no fast food restaurant so they must be very healthy people.
The families seem like they’re really healthy people cause most of their food is homegrown and they grew it themselves. Also their meals consist of the same thing all the time. Something I noticed is that each meal has red rice and some type of vegie.
